The BE EMPOWERED Mentoring Program of Horry County is dedicated to empowering young people in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential and achieve their dreams.
Our Purpose
Through meaningful one-on-one relationships, we connect youth with caring adult volunteers who commit to supporting, guiding, and being a trusted friend for a minimum of one year. These mentors become part of a vital social network of adults and community members who genuinely care about our young people's success.

What We Provide
Each referred student is carefully matched with a trained volunteer mentor who commits to at least one year of support. Our mentors provide:

The BE EMPOWERED Mentoring Program of Horry County invites schools, youth organizations, and community partners to refer students who would benefit from a caring, committed mentor in their lives.
Who Benefits from Mentoring?
We serve youth who would thrive with additional adult support, guidance, and encouragement. This includes students who:

- Are navigating academic or social challenges
- Need support setting and achieving personal goals
- Could use guidance in developing life skills and career planning

How to Refer a Student
Referring a student is simple. We work closely with families to ensure parental consent and program alignment with each student's needs. Our team handles:
- Initial family outreach and program explanation
- Careful mentor matching based on student interests and needs
- Ongoing support and monitoring throughout the mentorship
- Regular communication with referring partners
